Pueblito Canada is an international development agency dedicated to improving the lives of children in Latin America. For almost 35 years Pueblito has been helping the youngsters of Latin America by strengthening communities, safe-guarding rights, and providing the essentials for education, nutrition, and health. Working in partnership with local non-governmental organizations, Pueblito provides capacity building and financial assistance to develop culturally appropriate, innovative programs that benefit children and youth directly. Our programs involve and mobilize the family and community to ensure sustainability.

Primary Colours Project in full swing!
Pueblito is already training 98 grade 1 and 2 teachers and 29 school counselors at 12 public primary schools in Esteli (Northern Nicaragua)! With the expert help of FUNARTE facilitators, the teachers and counselors have started learning how to incorporate an innovative, art-based method into their teaching practices. And they are excited! “I have realized now how much better I can do in the classroom,” one teacher said. “Please give me more study materials!” As for the youngsters, you can see them working on their homework with a smile on their face. So far, FUNARTE has completed one teacher training workshop, visited 80 teachers in the classroom, and participated in three teacher-training events with the Ministry of Education of Nicaragua. A Celebration of Successes - Present and Past
This spring, Pueblito gathered friends and supporters over dinner to commemorate our history and celebrate recent successes. John Hockin, a long-time Pueblito friend, was inaugurated as an Honorary Board member. John has been a part of the Pueblito family since our very beginnings in 1974. His dedication to our work is deeply appreciated, and his stories of past accomplishments inspired all in attendance. Many thanks to everyone for coming and to La Bella Managua restaurant for hosting the event and spicing up the evening with delicious Nicaraguan treats!
We also met with potential partners and will be working with them to develop new projects over the next few months.
